Wakeful Night
Wakeful Night is a book I wrote and illustrated, published by Dottir Press. Dottir is the creation of Jennifer Baumgardner, author and former executive director of Feminist Press.
Wakeful Night is a deeply personal creation that came out of a series of losses association with a cancer diagnosis — a relationship, a childbearing future, a personal identity. In its pages are linocut prints and paintings that are paired with questions and spaces for answers. As an interactive journal, Wakeful Night is a time capsule, a memory vault, a poetic thread of inquiries about life and death, hope and new beginnings. Above all, it is a tool to courageously share and record your story, to celebrate audacious survival and the innate creativity of the human spirit.
Simulacrum
The Microcosm Projectors were created in collaboration with artist Andy Cavatorta for the Winter Guests' original performance Simulacrum, which tells the mythical-feeling life story of its principal dancer — 77-year-old, Japanese-born Flamenco legend Shõji Kojima. The projectors displayed hand cut images of scenes from Kojima's life that were then laser cut into a series of looping film strips. Simulacrum premiered in Oslo, Norway in late 2016 and is beginning a US tour this year.
Simulacrum was produced in the US by Brooklyn based Future Perfect Productions.
